Debra Mastaler, President & Chief Recruiter
As someone who has been involved in the online marketing industry since 1999, I have never flinched at change or challenges. Dot-com bubbles, recessions, the birth of social networks and major search engine changes… I’ve been through it all. When I made the decision to pivot from running a link building agency to launching an SEO recruiting firm at the start of a pandemic, I jumped in with both feet, said a little prayer and didn’t look back.
Recruiting and link building really aren’t that different, both require exceptional research abilities and a knack for finding the best solution. Instead of looking for web pages to partner with, I now look to connect people. It’s extremely satisfying to know you’ve helped someone land a job and helped a business find great talent.
My deep professional network is a real plus here, after 21 years in the industry I’ve met a person or two and have a solid understanding of the attributes needed to fill a digital marketing and SEO position.
In my hometown community, I have served on the Board of Directors for the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, The Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America and the Search Marketing Association of North America. I have been part of the judging panel for the US Search Awards since 2018 and am a Head Judge for the 2020 season.
Over the years I have spoken at over 200 search marketing conferences, done a large number of interviews, podcasts and webinars and has been featured in publications such as TechCrunch, PC World, Search Engine Journal, CIO, ComputerWorld and in books such as The Art of SEO and The Ultimate Guide to Link Building.
